Preparation and relevance of a cross-coupling product between sinapyl alcohol and sinapyl p-hydroxybenzoate.

چکیده
Cross-coupling of sinapyl p-hydroxybenzoate and sinapyl alcohol produces an 8-8-cross-coupled product that is also detected in lignifying poplar tissues, implicating sinapyl p-hydroxybenzoate as a lignin precursor.

Profiling of oligolignols reveals monolignol coupling conditions in lignifying poplar xylem.
Lignin is an aromatic heteropolymer, abundantly present in the walls of secondary thickened cells. Although much research has been devoted to the structure and composition of the polymer to obtain insight into lignin polymerization, the low-molecular weight oligolignol fraction has escaped a detailed characterization. This fraction, in contrast to the rather inaccessible polymer, is a simple an...
متن کاملFunctional reclassification of the putative cinnamyl alcohol dehydrogenase multigene family in Arabidopsis.
Of 17 genes annotated in the Arabidopsis genome database as cinnamyl alcohol dehydrogenase (CAD) homologues, an in silico analysis revealed that 8 genes were misannotated. Of the remaining nine, six were catalytically competent for NADPH-dependent reduction of p-coumaryl, caffeyl, coniferyl, 5-hydroxyconiferyl, and sinapyl aldehydes, whereas three displayed very low activity and only at very hi...
متن کاملHighly acylated (acetylated and/or p-coumaroylated) native lignins from diverse herbaceous plants.
The structure of lignins isolated from the herbaceous plants sisal ( Agave sisalana), kenaf ( Hibiscus cannabinus), abaca ( Musa textilis) and curaua ( Ananas erectifolius) has been studied upon spectroscopic (2D-NMR) and chemical degradative (derivatization followed by reductive cleavage) methods. The analyses demonstrate that the structure of the lignins from these plants is highly remarkable...
متن کاملSignatures of cinnamyl alcohol dehydrogenase deficiency in poplar lignins.
A series of transgenic poplars down-regulated for cinnamyl alcohol dehydrogenase (CAD) was analyzed by thioacidolysis. Among the lignin-derived monomers, the indene compounds that were recently shown to originate from sinapaldehyde incorporated into lignins through 8-O-4-cross-coupling, were found to increase as a function of CAD deficiency level. While these syringyl markers were recovered in ...
متن کاملCatalytic Profile of Arabidopsis Peroxidases, AtPrx-2, 25 and 71, Contributing to Stem Lignification
Lignins are aromatic heteropolymers that arise from oxidative coupling of lignin precursors, including lignin monomers (p-coumaryl, coniferyl, and sinapyl alcohols), oligomers, and polymers. Whereas plant peroxidases have been shown to catalyze oxidative coupling of monolignols, the oxidation activity of well-studied plant peroxidases, such as horseradish peroxidase C (HRP-C) and AtPrx53, are q...
